We want to hear your rad ideas!
Our Festival Mainstage is a regional launching point for new performance work – and this year, we’re pushing the stipend higher, in recognition of the number one barrier to artists creating work: MONEY.
Beyond the Mainstage, we’re also interested in whatever else you want to throw at us that could live in PICA’s theater, warehouse, or other spaces. We’re interested!

Risk/Reward’s 2026 Festival of New Performance will feature 4 to 6 pieces as part of the Festival Mainstage in PICA’s Annex Theater in Portland, Oregon, the weekend of June 11th. In addition, we’re excited to feature site-specific pieces, interactive installations, and other interesting performance works in PICA’s open warehouse space. We are interested in pieces of any genre that push the boundaries of performance.
Risk/Reward has supported hundreds of artists from the Pacific Northwest over the last 18 years.

And the festival itself is a riot of art, enthusiastic audiences, and good vibes. Our goal is that artists come out of it armed with experience, archival footage, and a plan to take the next step in their artistic journey, whatever that may be. Our Mainstage is primarily targeted at early and mid-career performers, especially those experimenting with material or a new collision of genres.
