Variety shows are flourishing in Portland. What is causing this influx of variety culture, and how did it become so popular? Risk/Reward brings the hosts and performers from these curated communities together in one space to get at the heart of why these cross-genre performances are such an important means of creative survival for Portland artists.

Portland variety show hosts Dahlia Kash (Melange: A Queer & POC Variety Show), Belinda Carroll (Outlandish: A Queer Talk/Variety Show), Meg Nanna & Jess Lou Green (Fused Creative), and Renée Muzquiz (Renée’s Queer Cabaret) share their vision and talk curation, promotion and production.

In addition to an informal mixer and Q&A session with the hosts, performers are invited to sign up for a 30-second pitch session about their work for these variety show curators to get a chance to hear about other artists in town.
